Every day is a new day. Every day is the Mews Day!

The very first antique I purchased was in 1961.  It was a tiny wooden Spanish coffer, exquisite in detail, from a shop in Mexico City.  There was no sign on the door, you had to knock, and I think I paid 25 pesos for it.  Home in Dallas was full of  what we called Danish Modern back then, now known as Mid-Century.  But that box spoke to me and started the adrenaline flowing toward a life-long love of  antiques and old things.  The Danish Modern is now long gone but the box sits on my mantle today.

Of course, seeing new shipments coming into The Mews every couple of months over the last twenty years has been my downfall.  Because each piece is special and the adrenaline starts flowing again.

Every day is a new day at The Mews.

Come see us soon!

Dear friends -

Twenty years ago I opened a strange new store in the decorative center with a group of talented designers and antique dealers who wanted to sell finer things than offered in the local “antique malls”. We were forging new territory opening in an area not normally open to the public – the sacred and infamous Decorative Center. We fought all kinds of criticism and nay saying. One showroom owner said “with a name like that and an idea like that, I give you six months tops”. But here we are still thriving twenty short years later, and have grown and grown to a much larger group of talented and professional designers and antique purveyors. The Mews is now considered the best in the country, bar none, and we did it with fine quality merchandise and top notch service. All sorts of shops and galleries have since filled Dragon and Slocum Streets and are still growing toward the Trinity. But we started it all, and we are the best with lots more to come.

Now we are again forging new territory, at least for us, with a fantastic new website, facebook, on line selling and whatever all that brings to us. And here I am, starting a blog. I did not even know what the word “blog” meant a couple of years ago, much less twenty. I hope you will follow us often and see all the exciting things going on at The Mews.
