The very first antique I purchased was in 1961. It was a tiny wooden Spanish coffer,
exquisite in detail, from a shop in Mexico
City . There was
no sign on the door, you had to knock, and I think I paid 25 pesos for it. Home in Dallas
was full of what we called Danish Modern
back then, now known as Mid-Century. But
that box spoke to me and started the adrenaline flowing toward a life-long love
of antiques and old things. The Danish Modern is now long gone but the
box sits on my mantle today.
Of course, seeing new shipments coming into The Mews every
couple of months over the last twenty years has been my downfall. Because each piece is special and the
adrenaline starts flowing again.
Every
day is a new day at The Mews.
Come see
us soon!
